Comfort In Time Of Loss

In a time of loss we have Godly comfort.

2 Corinthians 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”

“In the Presence of God.” That is where we are when we leave this body. We begin an eternity with God that is indescribable as to its greatness. Our loves ones who have gone on to Heaven are now in God’s Presence. This is truly a story of comfort, for our time of sorrow, knowing that our loved ones are now with God, having left all of the worldly troubles behind them. Yes! Our loves ones who have gone on to Heaven are now in the Presence of God. As the song says, “troubles vanish, hearts are mended, in the Presence of the King.” The following verses give the same words of comfort.

1 Thessalonians 4:13 Living Bible (TLB)

13 And now, dear brothers, I want you to know what happens to a Christian when he dies so that when it happens, you will not be full of sorrow, as those are who have no hope.

Revelation 21:4 New King James Version (NKJV)

4 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Consider Isaiah 54:17. Explain it using the “Five W” concept. “Who, What, When, Where, Why.” Context is important. What does this verse teach us? Consider the first phrase. Consider the words of the song that is being sung by a Messianic Jewish Congregation, “Congregation Beth Yeshua,” Macon, Georgia. Check out their website for more information about Messianic Jewish congregations.

Isaiah 54:17 New King James Version (NKJV)

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.

The Sabbath – The Holiness Of God

Consider the words of the Exodus account of the Sabbath. Pay special attention to verse 17.

Exodus 31:12-18 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Sign of the Sabbath

12 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 13 “But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘You shall surely observe My Sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. 14 Therefore you are to observe the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall surely be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall observe the Sabbath, to celebrate the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.’17 It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.”

18 When He had finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.

Social Media And Believers In Christ

“you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” (John 8:32)

Many Christians use social media for various reasons. Some are for quick and easy chat, and some are to share the truth of the Gospel. Unfortunately, there are many people who oppose the truth of Christ, and desire our nation (USA) and the world, to follow a course that is more aligned to the desires of Satan, sin, death and destruction. Many people have been attacked in the media, and by government sources, because of political and religious reasons. A good example is that of “Joe The Plumber.” If you don’t remember the trouble that Joe got into simply for asking a question, check out 2007 news sources.

There are many things that you have read on my blog posts and emails that are not well received by the liberal media, government, and unfortunately, the liberal and watered down church. Therefore, I have found it necessary to be careful in the way that I describe people, places, and events. My personal identity is something that I have tried to protect.

There are many people who know me, and there are many others who read my blog posts who do not know me, by name. That is a protection that I believe should continue.

Recently, I have become a part of a non-blog social media forum. Its purpose is clear, and limited to a certain community of people. In order to protect myself in this particular situation, only certain people will be a part of my personal circle of friends. The things that I will be writing will be posted so that I can gain favor within that circle. Those who are invited to be a part of that group will not be people who are a part of my current-day circle of friends. If anyone should come across my new group, and recognize me, please let me ask you to ignore this situation for the reasons that I have mentioned in this letter, and for other reasons that may be obvious to you. Every believer should be vigorously telling others about the truth of God’s Word, especially in matters of abortion, homosexual marriage, protecting our Christian practices and beliefs, and our God-given command to love, honor, respect and support Israel and the Jews.

Deuteronomy 7:6 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

6 For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

The Teachings Of Yeshua HaMashiach

“For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle” (Zechariah 14:2).

https://equippingblog.wordpress.com/

In today’s world of increasing attacks on Christians and Jews, it is easy to see that the leaders of the world, including the USA leader, have done little to stop the killings. The Zechariah passage tells of a time at the end of the Great Tribulation, that Jesus will return to earth, accompanied by his raptured saints (believers in Christ, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, John 14:1-3). The nations of today’s world are paying lip-service to the needs of Israel, and are aligning themselves with those who are in opposition to Israel. When Jesus returns, with those of us who were caught up prior to the time of tribulation (the holy ones), He will judge the nations of the world, as to how they treated Israel during the tribulation. Matthew 25:31-46, which is known as the sheep and goat judgment, has a phrase in it which says, “unto the least of these, My brethren.” Those words relate to the Jews, but are also used today to describe benevolence ministries. But, its specific context explains what will happen to those who mistreated the Jews. The video shows a benevolence situation, which is good, but the true meaning relates to the treatment by the nations of the Jews of the tribulation.

At one time, it would have seemed inconceivable that the USA would be included, along with the other nations who will be attacking Israel. But, based on continued incidents of lack of support for Israel, and support for the enemies of Israel, by the USA, it is easy to see that, “yes, the USA will be one of the nations who will be a part of the world’s attack on Israel.”

Zechariah 14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

God Will Battle Jerusalem’s Foes

14 Behold, a day is coming for the Lord when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you. 2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. 4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.5 You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!

6 In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. 7 For it will be a unique day which is known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.

8 And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

God Will Be King over All

9 And the Lord will be king over all the earth; in that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one.

10 All the land will be changed into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; but Jerusalem will rise and remain on its site from Benjamin’s Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s wine presses. 11 People will live in it, and there will no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will dwell in security.

12 Now this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth. 13 It will come about in that day that a great panic from the Lord will fall on them; and they will seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will be lifted against the hand of another. 14 Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold and silver and garments in great abundance. 15 So also like this plague will be the plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey and all the cattle that will be in those camps.

16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them. 18 If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the Lord smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.19 This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

20 In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “HOLY TO THE LORD.” And the cooking pots in the Lord’s house will be like the bowls before the altar. 21 Every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to the Lord of hosts; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts in that day.

Matthew 25:31-46 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

When I Don’t Know What To Do

John 1:1-3, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

John 1:9-13: 9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:14-15, 14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’”

Thoughts Of The Gospel Of John

30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:30-31)

Thoughts Of The Gospel Of John

For me, the Gospel of John is the book of the Bible that tells me the most about Jesus. During my study of the chapters of John, that I have already begun, you may have noticed that there is a lot of detail to be considered. I will be adding credible commentary data, as well as some personal thoughts. Before I go further into the study of John, I would like to share some of the verses that mean a lot to me. Please feel free to share your thoughts with me.

John 10:9-10, ” 9 I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

John 14:8-11, “8 Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me;

John 14:16-17, “16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

John 14:20, ” 20 In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.”

John 15:26, “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me,

John 16:5-10, “5 “But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.”

John 16:13-15, “13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

The High Priestly Prayer, Chapter 17

John 17:1-2, “1 Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said,“Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You,2 even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.”

John 17:3, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

John 17:4-5, “4 I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.5 Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”

John 17:6, “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.”

John 17:7-10, ” 7 Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me. 9 I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; 10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.”

John 17:20-23, “20 “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved.”

John 17:24, ” Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”

John 17:25-26, “25 “O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; 26 and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

John 19:14, Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he *said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”

John 19:31, Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

John 20:30-31, “30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

What is grief?

All about historical fiction

H Is For Hawk by Helen MacDonaldA recent reading of Helen Macdonald’s H is for Hawk prompts the question: What is grief?

Macdonald’s grief at the sudden death of her father is overwhelming and all encompassing. “For weeks I felt I was made of dully burning metal. That’s what it was like; so much so that I was convinced, despite all evidence to the contrary, that if you’d put me on a bed or a chair I would have burned right through.” She explains that bereavement, “from the Old English bereafian” means “to deprive of, take away, seize, rob. Robbed. Seized. It happens to everyone. But you feel it alone.”

Helen MacDonald works through her grief by training a young hawk she calls Mabel to hunt, to fly away and return to her. Strangely, almost mystically, MacDonald becomes one with her hawk, ultimately soothing and coming to terms with her loss and returning to the land…

Passover & Communion

Notice that the setting in the video is that of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples, including Judas. Next, Jesus shares the Passover meal with the disciples, including Judas. Jesus knew the mind of Judas, but did not exclude him from the foot-washing or the meal of the Passover. Watch the next video that has its focus on the meal of the Passover. Consider the meal of the Passover, as opposed to a small wafer of bread and a sip of grape juice.

Consider the following verses that tell of the events that lead to the Last Passover meal, and the Passover, itself.

PASSOVER & COMMUNION

Matthew 26:18-30 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near; I am to keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’” 19 The disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.

The Last Passover

20 Now when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. 21 As they were eating, He said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.” 22 Being deeply grieved, they each one began to say to Him, “Surely not I, Lord?” 23 And He answered, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” 25 And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” Jesus *said to him, “You have said it yourself.”

26 While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying,“Drink from it, all of you; 28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

30 After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Watch for symbolism.

John 10:9 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

9 I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

Question: When did the disciples meet again for the Passover meal?

Please consider my thoughts about Passover and Communion.

Jews know all about Passover. They know the scriptures that explain Passover. Can Christians explain The Lord’s Supper? Can we tell someone why we have Communion, when we have it, if anyone is not to allowed to take part? Do we know the scriptures that clearly explain these things in such a way that we can tell someone else? Or, do we just do it the way that we do it, because we’ve always done it that way? Do we know scriptures that clearly show ‘Communion’ taking place, with a clear example of how it was taking place? Let me encourage you to follow my posts on this, and other important topics. As believers in Christ, we have been given a commission by Jesus that most Christians are not able to fulfill:

New American Standard Bible Acts 1:8

but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
