The Calendar Of The LORD (March – June)

“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24 (Holman Christian Standard Bible).

Those who worship God “in spirit and truth” do so, not at any particular time, day or place. Spirit and truth worship is a result of an intimate relationship with God. (See the comments on “God, Elohim, Theos, Word and Logos at the bottom of the page.)

Christians and Jews are entering a very exciting time of year. There are dates on the calendar that we should keep in mind. The event that is known by the world as “Easter,” is one that I will say, “please don’t say Easter!” I will explain why it should be known as Resurrection Sunday. The dates that are important to the world of Christians and Jews are as follows

March 23 Purim – Wednesday Sundown – March 24 Thursday Sundown

March 27 Resurrection Sunday (Don’t say Easter!)

April 22 Passover/Feast Of Unleavened Bread – Friday Sundown – April 30 Saturday Sundown

May 5 Ascension Day

May 8 Ascension Sunday

May 15 Pentecost Sunday

June 11 Shavuot/Feast Of Pentecost – Saturday Sundown – June 13 Monday Sundown

Updates will be published prior to each day, or days, as listed above.

The days of Resurrection Sunday, Ascension Day, Ascension Sunday, and Pentecost relate to Christ and The Church. Additionally. there is also a “Feast Of Pentecost, which is known as Shavuot,” and is one of the feasts of The LORD. The Feasts Of The LORD will be shown to also have great significance to the Church.

The Holy Days of the LORD, as given to the Israelites, are prefaced by the following verse of scripture, Leviticus 23:1-3, Holman Christian Standard Bible.

Leviticus 23:1-3

1 The LORD spoke to Moses: 2“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: These are My appointed times, the times of the LORD that you will proclaim as sacred assemblies.
3“Work may be done for six days, but on the seventh day there must be a Sabbath of complete rest, a sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; it is a Sabbath to the LORD wherever you live..

From the Hebrew Lexicon, we see the proper way that “LORD” is used in each verse, and that it is referenced by Strong’s number 3068. Notice the spelling and upper case of LORD, and the pronunciation.

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

23:1-3 In this chapter we have the institution of holy times; many of which have been mentioned before. Though the yearly feasts were made more remarkable by general attendance at the sanctuary, yet these must not be observed more than the sabbath. On that day they must withdraw from all business of the world. It is a sabbath of rest, typifying spiritual rest from sin, and rest in God. God’s sabbaths are to be religiously observed in every private house, by every family apart, as well as by families together, in holy assemblies. The sabbath of the Lord in our dwellings will be their beauty, strength, and safety; it will sanctify, build up, and glorify them.
