Honoring The Sabbath

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, Exodus 20:8.

To honor the Sabbath, as being of God’s handiwork.

We met together as believers in Christ to honor the Sabbath. It was five o’clock on the evening of a Friday. I began reading God’s Holy Word.

Genesis 1:5, “Evening came and then morning: the first day.”
Genesis 1:8, “Evening came and then morning: the second day.”
Genesis 1:13, “Evening came and then morning: the third day.”
Genesis 1:19, “Evening came and then morning: the fourth day.”
Genesis 1:23, “Evening came and then morning: the fifth day.”
Genesis 1:31, “Evening came and then morning: the sixth day.”
Genesis 2:1-3, “1 So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed. 2 By the seventh day God completed His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. 3 God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.”

At the beginning of this darkened Friday morning, just as it occurs each day, darkness began turning into dawn. Then, dawn turned into daylight; daylight turned into dusk; and, as we were reading God’s Holy Word, dusk began turning into darkness. In our presence, Sabbath began to grace us, and everybody else in our community. Sabbath would continue until sundown on Saturday. In our group we were experiencing a true “Shabbat Shalom,” which means in Hebrew, “sabbath of peace.”

During our time of honoring the Sabbath, we participated in a Passover meal, as described in Matthew 26:17-30. We continued with a discussion of Matthew 5:17, as our Lord said, “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.” The Law was fulfilled in Christ: “It is finished” (John 19:30). In Galatians 3:24, we see the purpose of the Law: “Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.”

During this time of of honoring the Sabbath, we discussed true worship. Our scripture text was taken from John’s Gospel, Chapter 4. We discussed the encounter of the Samaritan woman with Christ, verses 19-24., The topic was worship. The woman pointed out the differences of worship between Jews and Samaritans; she said that Jews worshiped at the temple in Jerusalem, but Samaritans worshiped elsewhere (John 4:20). So, the woman was saying, “what gives?” (mine). Our Lord gave a simple answer to the woman. The Samaritan woman had addressed times, days, and places of worship. Plain and simple, Christ said in verse 24, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” In AD 70, the temple in Jerusalem would be destroyed, so that would take care of the “time, day, and place situation.” Christ added that true worship is that of “spirit and truth.” It is a worship that includes, “all that we are,” for “all that God is.” Note that “God is Spirit,” and not “a spirit.” If God were, “a spirit,” He would be one of many spirits, of which God is not.

Remember the words,”God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.” God made the seventh day. God made the seventh day holy. I choose to honor the seventh day. I try to keep every Friday free of mental conflict, and try to keep my mind on the “sure to arrive” weekly Sabbath. I cherish the time of the arrival of Friday’s sunset, as I know that a “God moment” is in the making. I consider the things of Elohim/Theos and His creation week (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 1:23; John 1:1).

I worship God for all that He has done to give us the world that we are blessed to inhabit. I thank God for Christ, Who is “God with us,” (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23). Maybe you will find your own way of honoring the Sabbath.

Before we go our separate ways, let us again consider honoring the Sabbath. The worshipful video that was seen in the opening of this article was

Let Praise Fill Our Streets

Let praise fill our streets!

When someone comes against you, ask, “Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?” Those words worked for me!

Psalm 150

1 Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.

3 Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!1

Del Way, New Birth And Praise

Del Way – The Old Man Is Dead

2 Corinthians 5:17 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

The new creature is our spirit, and is a result of our being born again. Upon our new birth, our old sinful spirit, which previously prompted us to unrighteous living, “passes away.” The Spirit of God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) “takes up residence” within our new-born spirit and begins prompting us to righteous living.

February 3, 1980 is the day that Del Way came to know Christ as his Lord and Savior. On that day Del was faithful to the Word of God in John 3:3.

John 3:3 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

To be born again is a spiritual event that comes as a result of our belief in Christ as Lord and Savior.

John 3:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

It is through the work of God’s Holy Spirit that anyone is born again.

John 3:16 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

At the end of anyone’s life, there are two destinies. If a person has a belief in Christ as Lord and Savior, “eternal life” with Christ is one destiny. It is through a belief in Christ as Lord and Savior that anyone can have eternal life with Christ. “Perish” contrasts with “eternal life” and involves an eternal conscious punishment (Mark 9:42-48; Revelation 14:9-11). Those who believe in Christ “have” (present tense) “eternal life” now, even while on earth. (Moody Bible Commentary note).

John 3:18 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

One’s eternal destiny is determined on earth, not in heaven. Anyone who believes in Christ is “not judged” or condemned in a future judgment. Anyone “who does not believe has been judged already,” here and now. The future judgment confirms, but does not determine one’s eternal destiny. (Moody Bible Commentary note).
Those whom have not come to belief in Christ have not been born again; they have already been judged based on their unbelief. However, salvation through a belief in Christ can happen at any time, in anyone’s life, prior to their death; they will not face a future judgment. Unbelievers will stand before the Great White Throne Judgment at the end of the Kingdom Age (millennium) where:

Revelation 20:15 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“…if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Romans 8:1 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Those whom have been born again, through a belief in Christ, will never experience Godly condemnation.

2 Corinthians 5:21 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

When Christ was crucified on the cross at Calvary, He took on Him the judgment for sin for everyone whom has ever been born again, and whom will ever be born again. As a result of the sacrificial death of Christ, the spirit of each born again believer in Christ became as pure as the Spirit of Christ. Notice that Christ, “became sin,” and did not become a sinner. He became sin so that He could pay the price of sin’s judgment. Without Christ paying the penalty for sin, none of us would escape an eternity of perishing.

John 19:28-30 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, *said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. 30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

Colossians 1:27 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“…Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

It is only through the born again experience, by which the Spirit of Christ takes up residence within the spirit of “the believer in Christ,” that there will be an eternal presence with God for anyone.

Consider eternity for those whom have been born again.

Revelation 21 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The New Heaven and Earth

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”

22 I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; 26 and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27 and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The River and the Tree of Life

1 Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; 4 they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. 5 And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.

Del Way – Calvary’s the Reason why

On February 3, 1980, Del Way believed in Christ as His Lord and Savior, was born again, and experienced the Spirit of God taking up residence within his spirit. On that day, Del Way began experiencing eternal life, with his spirit dwelling with the Spirit of God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). How about you? Through belief, do you know Christ as your Lord and Savior?

94 – Thanksgiving Through Christ

PSALM ENCHANTED EVENING with Marty Goetz

Believers in Christ have the assurance that we are eternally secure in Christ, never to be removed (John 10:27-30); with the assurance that we are Spiritually indwelleld by, and that we spiritually dwell within, the Spirit of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (John 14:20). We have true Thanksgiving through our born again Spirit, and the indwelling presence of our spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17, 5:21). Our assurance is Christ’s Spirit literally present within our spirit, with our spirit having been made to be perfect, and dwelling within the Spirit of Christ (Colossians 1:27-28). Our thanksgiving of praise is that, because our spirit has been born again and made to be perfect, having no flaw, we can dwell within the Spirit of God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) (1 John 1:5).
