III. Introduction.

A. Overview of Rev 22.

In this area of scripture we see creation as God always intended it to be (before sin entered the picture) in the new heaven and new earth. We also see the city in the eternal state, the new Jerusalem, which is the city of our citizenship (Phil 3:20), which we will inhabit one day. It is important for believers in Christ to know that our destination is not the Garden of Eden, but a city. The story of the Bible is “a garden to a city, with a cross in between.” Of significance is that in the city, there is no tree of knowledge. There is no opportunity for us to sin; we have already been put to the test, and have passed that test by coming to saving faith in Christ. We are in our permanent environment, in our eternal and perfect resurrection body (1 Cor 15:50-54). The throne of God has become the throne of the lamb; there has been a merger of the two thrones (Rev 22:1). Rev 3:21 identifies the throne of the Lamb, and the throne of “God the Father.” Rev 22:2 says that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations; “God is bringing them (nations) back to His original design for them.” It is important to remember that anyone in the eternal state, of the Kingdom Of God, has been born again (John 3:3). Rev 22:3 states that there will no longer be a curse (Rom 8:19-22, Gen 3:14-19). The Godly throne will be present. We, who have been born again (bond servants), will serve God. Restated in this verse, are that the throne of God, and the Lamb, will be present in New Jerusalem of the eternal state. Rev 22:4 tells us that we will see the face of God, and that God’s Name will be placed on our foreheads; which will be “a new name” (Rev 2:17); and, “the Name of My God, and My New Name” Rev 3:12. Rev 19:12, “He has a Name written on “Him” which no one knows except Himself”; this is perhaps the same name which He will write on the overcomer (Ryrie, 2:17, 3:12). Rev 19:16: He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Rev 22:5, God will be the sole provider of all light. Believers will reign with Christ forever.

E. Life In The Eternal City.

1. Scripture does not give details of life in the eternal Kingdom of God. However, there are glimpses in the Bible of what eternal life will be like in the Presence of God, and the Lamb (Rev 21:22), where “They share the same throne,” (Rev 22:1).

a. We are told that there will be a life of fellowship with Christ (John 14:3).
b. There will be a life of rest (Rev 14:13).
c. We will have a life of full knowledge (1 Cor 13:12).
d. There will be a life of holiness (Rev 21:27).
e. We will experience a life of joy (Rev 21:4).
f. Our eternal lives will be lives of service (Rev 22:3).
g. We will have lives of abundance (Rev 21:6).
h. Each of us will have lives of glory (Col 3:4).
i. We will have a life of worship (Rev 7:9-12).

The River and the Tree of Life

1. Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; 4 they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. 5 And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.

14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

C. Comments. Revelation 22. Ryrie Study Bible.

22:1-2. These descriptive phrases indicate fullness of life and continuous blessing in the New Jerusalem.
22:3-5. The “curse” and all darkness will be excluded; and service, communion, and reigning will be the believers; privileges.
22:8-9. Again John is commanded not to worship angels (see 19:10).
22:11. When Christ comes, there will be no more opportunity for a man to change his destiny. What he is then will be forever.
22:12. Salvation is not of works, but rewards are.
22:14. “Blessed are those who wash their robes.” I.e., believers.
22:15. “dogs.” Not animals, but people of low character (cf. Phil. 3:2).
22:16-17. Jesus is gracious because (1) He gave the book of Revelation to the churches, (2) as the son of “David” He will fulfill Israel’s promises, (3) He is the “morning star,” the precursor of the new day, and (4) He offers the “water of life” freely.”

V. Summary.

A. Having completed this last book of God’s Holy Word, we have seen the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen 12:3). There are highly regarded theologians who see the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant as being in the Millennium (Rev 20). There are other highly regarded theologians who see the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant as being in the Eternal State (Rev 21-22). My belief is that the Abrahamic Covenant will be fulfilled in the Millennium, per Gen 15:18, where two major rivers are described. In Rev 21:1 there is no sea.

B. The MacArthur Study Bible says that there will be no water in the Eternal State; The New American Commentary on Revelation agrees. The Walvoord Commentary on Revelation on 21:1 states that “the new earth apparently will have no bodies of water.” Walvoord states in 22:1, “this river corresponds to the present believer’s experience of the outflow of the Holy Spirit.” Walvoord, also states in 22:2, “the river is not a broad body of water, but a clear stream sufficiently narrow for all, for this arrangement (of this verse). Gen 15 cites two major rivers; Rev 22 identifies “sorts of water” but no rivers. The sources, that I have cited, confirm that the Abrahamic Covenant will be fulfilled in the Millennium, where there will be two major rivers in the promised land.

VI. Looking Ahead.

In our next series of studies, we will go back into the Old Testament. We will look at Israel, as “God’s chosen people” (Deu 14:2) continue their travel toward the promised land of the Abrahamic Covenant. We will discuss key events that take place from 1 Samuel, through the time of the fall of Jerusalem at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian troops. The timeline for this next study will be from 1171 B.C., (Scofield Study Bible, Copyright 1909), until 586 B.C., (Ryrie Study Bible, Copyright 1986).

Rev 21- Heaven Or Hell – Who’s Going Where?

I. Video Details.

David Phelps – No More Night (Live). Oct 4, 2012. Gaither Music TV. In the opening video David Phelps sings of the conditions that will be present when the thousand year Kingdom Age ends, the present world is destroyed, and the Eternal State of the New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem is revealed to the Apostle John, who was the human writer of the Book of Revelation (Rev 1:11).

III. Introduction. Most people use the terms of “Heaven and Hell” to relate to the eternal destinations for all of humanity, as to whether they have been “good or bad”. However, the eternal home for those whom have been born again will be in the New Jerusalem; such people are Christ’s (1 Cor 15:23), and relates to Old Testament saints, New Testament saints, and martyred Tribulation saints. Those whom are not Christ’s will find their eternal destination to be the in the “Lake Of Fire” (Rev 20:15). In this twenty-first chapter of Revelation we will discuss the subject of the Eternal State of “the New Heaven and New Earth, and the New Jerusalem.” We will discuss those whom will, and will not, enter the New Jerusalem. People whom are Christ’s have been born again. People whom are not Christ’s have not been born again. Being born again means to have one’s spirit, “born from above,” which is by an act of God’s Holy Spirit (John 3:8).

A. Let’s consider the inhabitants of the Kingdom Age of Rev 20, which is also known as the thousand year Millennium. It will be from the Kingdom Age that the occupants of the New Jerusalem will come. It will be necessary for all whom enter the New Jerusalem to have bodies and souls that are “sinless, perfect and eternal,” as a result of bodily perfection that will come from rapture or resurrection, per 1 Cor 15:50 (KJV), “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.” Additionally, all whom enter the New Jerusalem Kingdom Age must have been born again (John 3:3). In the following sub-paragraphs we will address those whom will, and will not, go from the Kingdom Age into the New Jerusalem.

1. Church age saints will inhabit the New Jerusalem. Coming with Christ from Heaven to Earth for the Battle of Armageddon will be the resurrected and raptured born again believers in Christ. (John 14:2,3,6; 1 Cor 15:50-54; 1 Thes 4:13-18; Rev 19:11-14).

2. Old Testament Saints will inhabit the New Jerusalem. These saints, including those of the Gospels, will be resurrected at the end of the Tribulation (Dan 12:1-2).

3. Tribulation Martyred Saints will inhabit the New Jerusalem. These saints will be resurrected at the end of the Tribulation (Rev 20:4).

4. Surviving Tribulation Saints will inhabit the New Jerusalem. Those whom will be left behind from the rapture, and who later come to saving faith in Christ during the Tribulation, Jew and Gentile, will be allowed to enter the Kingdom Age. (Matt 24:40-41, Jews; Matt 25:34, Gentiles). These saints will enter the Kingdom Age in imperfect bodies and souls, but having been born again. They will be given eternal and perfect resurrection bodies (body and soul) during the Kingdom, which will allow them to inhabit the New Jerusalem. These saints will have children during the Kingdom Age, as is discussed in the next paragraph.

5. Those whom are born to surviving Tribulation saints during the Kingdom Age may, or may not, inhabit the New Jerusalem. No one whom is born during the Kingdom Age will have a born again spirit upon their birth; they must accept Christ as their Lord and Savior in order for them to enter the eternal state. They must have perfect eternal resurrection “bodies, souls and spirits,” which will come from their having accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. (Rev 20:15).

6. Restated, the born again experience must take place in the life of each person before entry into the Kingdom Age and New Jerusalem are permitted. In addition to being born again, all whom enter into the New Jerusalem must have an eternal and perfect, “body, soul, and spirit,” all of which must have come from spiritual acts of God, “new-birth and resurrection.”

B. Who are the people which will not enter the Kingdom Age, “the thousand years prior to the New Jerusalem?” Such people are those whom will not have not been born again (Dan 12:1-2; John 3:3; Mt 24:40-41; Mt 25:41). These people are the unsaved dead of all times (Rev 20:11-13). The unsaved living survivors of the Tribulation will be taken in death, to be resurrected at the Great White Throne Judgement of Rev 20:15 (Matt 24:40-41; Matt 25:41).

C. Who will rule and reign with Christ during the Kingdom Age? These will be people whom have resurrection or raptured bodies.

1. Old Testament Saints (Dan 12:3; Matt 19:28.)
2. New Testament Saints (1 Cor 6:2.)
3. Tribulation Martyred Saints (Rev 20:4).

D. Who “will not” rule and reign with Christ during the Kingdom Age?

1. All whom will be born again during the Tribulation. They will not have resurrection bodies and souls when they enter the Kingdom. Prior to the time of entering the New Jerusalem, these Tribulation saints will be given perfect and eternal, resurrection bodies and souls. During the Kingdom Age, these people will be busy being “students of Christ,” (Isa 2:1-3).
2. All children who will be born during the Kingdom Age. Upon birth, they will not have resurrection bodies, souls or spirits. If they accept Christ as Savior, they will be given “perfect, eternal, and resurrection” bodies, souls and spirits which will allow them to enter the New Jerusalem. During the Kingdom Age, these people should be busy being “students of Christ,” (Isa 2:1-3). However, they may not be as such (Zech 14:16-19, Rev 20:7-9).

E. During the time of the Kingdom Age, who will rule and reign over whom?

1. In the Abrahamic Covenant, Jews are promised the land of Gen 15:18-22, which will not occur, in full, until the Kingdom Age. Surviving, born again, Jews of the Tribulation will occupy the promised land in mortal bodies. OT saints having been resurrected at the end of the Tribulation, will have resurrection bodies, souls and spirits, and will rule and reign over the Tribulation Jews. The Abrahamic Covenant relates to Jews of all times, with details of that promise going back to the Davidic Covenant in 2 Sam 7. The promised land will extend from the River of Egypt (Wadi el-Arish) to the Euphrates River in Iraq (The Bible Knowledge Commentary, Old Testament, Allen E. Poss).

2. Surviving, born again, Tribulation Gentiles will enter the Kingdom Age in natural bodies, and will reside beyond the boundaries of the promised land; they will come and go, to and from, the promised land of Gen 15:18-22 (Zech 14:16-19). Born again saints of the Church Age, and the martyred and resurrected Gentiles of the Tribulation, will have resurrection bodies, souls, and spirits; they will rule and reign in the area that is beyond the promised land of Gen 15:18-22, over those Gentiles that do not have resurrected bodies, souls and spirits.

3. Resurrected and raptured saints of the church age will be caught up and taken to Heaven by Christ, never to be absent from His Presence (John 14:2,3,6; 1 Thes 4:16-17). We, “church age saints,” will travel from Heaven to Earth with Christ during the Millennium, and back to Heaven with Christ, as we rule and reign with Him….back and forth….back and forth….back and forth. We will go back and forth, from heaven to earth to heaven, for the 1000 year duration of the Kingdom Age. Because of the wording of 1 Thes 4:17, “so shall we ever be with the Lord,” church age saints will be present with Christ during the Kingdom Age, “ruling and reigning with Christ,” as He rules from Jerusalem. If Christ should leave the Promised Land, the church age saints will accompany Him.

4. Those in the Kingdom Age, having “perfect and eternal,” resurrection bodies, souls and spirits, will rule and reign over those not having such resurrection bodies. All of those whom will be in the New Jerusalem must have resurrection bodies. Imperfection and sin will be present during the Kingdom Age, as children are born, not having come to saving faith in Christ. Sin will escalate and lead to the Battle of Gog and Magog, as the Kingdom Age comes to an end (Rev 20:7-9). No imperfection will be allowed in the New Jerusalem (Rev 21:27, Ryrie Study Bible).

5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. 7 He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. 8 But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

The New Jerusalem

10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her brilliance was like a very costly stone, as a stone of crystal-clear jasper. 12 It had a great and high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The one who spoke with me had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, and its gates and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the rod, fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, seventy-two yards, according to human measurements, which are also angelic measurements. 18 The material of the wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. C. Comments. Revelation 21. Ryrie Study Bible.

21:1. “a new heaven and a new earth.” The present creation will be destroyed so that it may be cleansed from all the effects of sin (2 Peter 3:7, 10, 12). “No more sea” because climatic and human conditions will be completely different.
21:2. “new Jerusalem.” This heavenly city will be the abode of all the saints (Heb 12:22-24), the bride of Christ (vv 9-10), and the place Christ prepared for His people (John 14:2). During the Millennium the Jew Jerusalem (described in Rev 21:9-22:5) apparently will be suspended over the earth, and it will be the dwelling place of all believers during eternity (as is emphasized in 21:1-8).
21:3-4 People will enjoy a new intimacy with God and the elimination of those sorrows that sin brings.
21:8. Those whose lives can be characterized in these ways will be cast into the lake of fire, because they have shown themselves to be unbelievers. “brimstone = sulphur.
21:11. The city will shine with the “glory of God,” like “crystal-clear Jasper,” which will allow that glory to shine brilliantly.
21:12-14. Though both Jewish saints and Christian saints will inhabit the city, the names of the “twelve tribes” and the “twelve apostles” are a witness to their continued distinction.
21:16-17. Shaped foursquare like a cube, the city is 1380 mi (2,220 km) on each face, including height, with a wall 72 yd (66 m) thick. It has been calculated that even if only 25 percent of this space were used for dwellings, 20 billion people could be accommodated spaciously.
21:19-20. “chalcedony.” Probably a greenish blue agate stone. (The exact composition and color of all these precious stones is unknown.) “sardonyx.” Bright red. “chrysolite.” Golden in color. “beryl.” Sea green. “topaz.” Yellow-green. “chrysoprase.” Apple green. “jacincth.” Blue. “amethyst.” Purple.
21:24. Whether these “nations” and “kings” are millennial people or resurrected people in the eternal state is unclear. In either case, only the redeemed will be allowed to enter the city (v. 27).

V. Conclusion. Verses of judgment and condemnation. In the verses that follow, are the lifestyles of people whom have not been born again, “those whom are not Christ’s.” There are differences, however, in the verses that identify such non-believers. Those whom are alive during the time prior to the tribulation had been exposed to Christ by eyewitnesses of our Lord, and by those whom had been won to Christ by those whom had been won to Christ by converts of eyewitnesses (from the first century until now). Because only eyewitnesses of Christ had actually seen the Truth of Christ, “those whom had not/have not seen our Lord” based their decisions to accept Christ as Lord and Savior on faith, which will be the case of those which will be martyred tribulation saints. Those whom will live during the Kingdom Age as unbelievers will have the physical Presence of Christ in their lives, and will come under His teaching. In Rev 21:8 such words as “cowardly, fearful, liars,” along with the other verse qualifiers, show a lifestyle of unbelief in Christ, of not having been born again. All whom have direct access to the Person of Christ and to His teachings, should have no reason to be cowardly, fearful, or liars. But, because of their not having been born again, such Kingdom Age unbelievers will find their eternal destination to be in the Lake Of Fire (Rev 20:15), because they did not receive the Person and teaching of Christ; they were born in the Kingdom Age as unbelievers, and will exit the Kingdom Age as unbelievers. In essence, those of Rev 21:8, have not been born again (John 3:3). It is important to know that “Kingdom of God” can relate to the Millennium or to the Eternal State, depending on context. John 3:3 and 1 Cor 6:9-10 directly relate to the Millennium. However, those whom have been born again will also enter into the New Jerusalem of the Eternal State.

A. Pre-Tribulation

II. Key Verses. Joel 3:10, Micah 4:3 (All verses NASB).

A. In Rev 19 we concluded the events of the Tribulation.

B. In Rev 20 we will see the blessings of the Kingdom Age of the Millennium.

C. The following two verses focus on key features of the Tribulation and Millennium.

1. “Beat your plowshares into swords, And your pruning hooks into spears;” (Joel 3:10). This verse relates to the Tribulation, at the Battle of Armageddon (Ryrie Study Bible).

2. “Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they train for war. (Micah 4:3). This verse relates to the Kingdom Age of the Millennium (Ryrie Study Bible).

D. The Tribulation must precede the Millennium (Ryrie Study Bible, note on Joel 3:9-17). We will now discuss things of the Millennium.

III. Introduction (All verses NASB).

A. The millennium, as shown in Rev 20, is a fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant, as stated in 2 Sam 7:1-17.

1. MacArthur Study Bible Notes. 2 Samuel 7:1–17 See 1 Chr. 17:1–15. These verses record the establishment of the Davidic Covenant, God’s unconditional promise to David and his posterity. While not called a covenant here, it is later (23:5). This promise is an important key to understanding God’s irrevocable pledge of a king from the line of David to rule forever (v. 16). It has been estimated that over 40 individual biblical passages are directly related to these verses (cf. Pss. 89; 110; 132); thus, this text is a major highlight in the OT. The ultimate fulfillment comes at Christ’s second advent when He sets up His millennial kingdom on earth (cf. Ezek. 37; Zech. 14; Rev. 19). (The following notes come from 2 Sam).

a. 7:12 your seed. According to the rest of Scripture, it was the coming Messiah who would establish David’s kingdom forever (see Is. 9:6, 7; Luke 1:32, 33).
b. 7:15 This is an expression of the unconditional character of the Davidic Covenant. The Messiah will come to His glorious, eternal Kingdom and that promise will not change.
c. 7:16 your house…your kingdom…Your throne. Luke 1:32b, 33 indicates that these 3 terms are fulfilled in Jesus, “…and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” forever. This word conveys the idea of 1) an indeterminately long time or 2) into eternity future. It does not mean that there cannot be interruptions, but rather that the outcome is guaranteed. Christ’s Davidic reign will conclude human history.

2. The Kingdom Age is a key part of the Olivet Discourse (Mt 24-25), where Christ told His “soon to be apostles” of the events that will take place during the prophesied seven-year tribulation. “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come (Mt 24:14 NASB). It is important to know that it is the “good news” of the Kingdom that will be preached during the Tribulation, as opposed to the “good news” of 1 Cor 15:1-8 (death, burial and resurrection of Christ). It is important to understand that the Olivet Discourse was taught by Christ to Jews, about Jewish things.

3. The Kingdom Age was preached by Isaiah the prophet to Israel in 760 B.C. (Scofield) to Jews in and around Jerusalem (Isa 1:1). Details: 2:1 “It will come about in the last days; 2:3 “And many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways; 2:4, “And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they learn war.” 9:6-7 ” 6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.” 11:6 “And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them.

B. The Kingdom is taught in the Gospels, as related to Jews.

1. Luke 1:31-33: “31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

2. The Kingdom was taught by Christ and His disciples about the Kingdom to first century Jews

a. “From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matt 4:17).

b. “Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom….” (Matt 4:23).

c. Jesus was going through all the cities and villages…..proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, (Mt 9:35 re: Matt 24:14).

d. Christ sent His disciples to Jews to teach about the Kingdom. Mt 10:5-7 “5 These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: “Do not go in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the Samaritans; 6 but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”

C. The Kingdom Age was taught to Jews by Christ in the Sermon On The Mount (Matt 5-7 and Luke 6:17-49).

(Mt 5-7) 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” 5:10 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” 5:12 “…they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” 5:19 “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” 5:20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” Mt 6:10 “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.” 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Mt 7:12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” It is important to know that the Sermon on the Mount was taught by Christ to Jews about Jewish things.

D. Christ taught about the fulfillment of prophecy to Jews.

1. “I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 8:11)

2. “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

E. Christ told the disciples, who would soon become apostles, of their special role in the Kingdom.

1. Mt 16:19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”

2. Luke 22:29-30: “29 and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you 30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

F. The Kingdom: Reward and Stipulation.

1. The reward that Isaiah prophesied to Jews in III. A. 3., above, was reaffirmed by Christ: Matt 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

2. The stipulation for Jews of all times is that no Jew is promised life in the Kingdom, except by John 3:3. “… unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

3. The stipulation, for all whom are alive during the church age, is that no one will be able to enter the Millennium to rule and reign with Christ, unless they are born again: 2 Cor 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” Church age saints will be caught up by Christ and taken to Heaven when He returns “in the air” (John 14:2,3,6; 1 Cor 15:50-54; 1 Thes 4:13-18) and will be with Him wherever He may be, and will rule and reign with Him during the Millennium (1 Cor 6:2). The dwelling place for church age saints during the Tribulation and Millennium is in Heaven (John 14:2-3). Resurrected and raptured church-age born again saints, will come to earth and return to Heaven with Christ, during the Millennium, each time that He comes to earth and returns to Heaven (1 Thes 4:18).

4. The stipulation for any Jew or Gentile, which may survive the Tribulation, is that they must be “righteous/born again” in order for them to be allowed by Christ to enter the Millennium, otherwise they will be taken in death to the Great White Throne Judgment of Rev 20:15 (Jews, Matt 24:40-41: “the unrighteous taken to judgment; the righteous left to enter the Millennium;” Gentiles, Matt 25:31-33: “the righteous to enter the Millennium, Mt 25:34; the unrighteous to be taken in death to the Great White Throne Judgment, Mt 25:41).

5. The stipulation for anyone, of any time, is that no one can enter the Kingdom unless they have been born again. To be born again means that a person’s spirit is as pure as the Spirit of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Cor 5:21). A believer’s born-again spirit must reside within the Spirit of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17, 20; 2 Cor 5:17; Col 1:27; 1 John 1:5). Those whom have a born-again spirit will be prompted by God’s Holy Spirit of the things of righteousness (John 14:26, 16:7-11). Once we have been born again, and have been given God’s indwelling Holy Spirit, we will never have God’s Holy Spirit taken away, or removed, from our spirit. God’s Holy Spirit will eternally dwell within the spirit of all whom have been born again. Once we have been born again, we can not be “unborn” (John 10:27-30).

6. Conclusion. Everyone, of all time, “must be born again” in order for them to enter the Millennium/Kingdom Age.

IV. Preview of Rev 20. (All verses NASB)

A. Rev 20 is a view of the Kingdom Age in a nutshell. The duration of the Kingdom Age is 1,000 years, and is also known as the Millennial reign of Christ.

B. MacArthur Study Bible Note. Rev 20:1—22:21. Chapter 19 ends with the Battle of Armageddon and Christ’s second coming—events that mark the close of the Tribulation. The events of chap. 20—the binding of Satan, Christ’s 1,000 year earthly kingdom, Satan’s final rebellion, and the Great White Throne Judgment—fit chronologically between the close of the Tribulation and the creation of the new heaven and the new earth described in chaps. 21, 22.

C. Inhabitants of the Kingdom/Millennium.

1. Coming with Christ from Heaven for the Battle of Armageddon. These are the resurrected and raptured born again believers in Christ. (John 14:2,3,6; 1 Cor 15:50-54; 1 Thes 4:13-18; Rev 19:11-14).

2. Old Testament Saints resurrected at the end of the Tribulation (Dan 12:1-2), which will include the OT saints of the Gospels.

3. Tribulation Martyrs (Rev 20:4). Surviving Tribulation Saints (those who came to Christ during the tribulation, Jew and Gentile). (Matt 24:40-41, Jews; Matt 25:34, Gentiles).

4. Those born to surviving Tribulation saints; these will have to accept Christ as Savior to enter the eternal state Rev 20:15)

D. Those not allowed into the Kingdom. Who are the people which will not enter the Kingdom Age? It will be those whom have not been born again. Dan 12:1-2; John 3:3; Mt 24:40-41; Mt 25:41. The unsaved dead of all times (Rev 20:11-13). The unsaved living survivors of the tribulation are put to death, to be resurrected at the Great White Throne Judgement of Rev 20:15 (Matt 24:40-41; Matt 25:41).

E. Those ruling and reigning with Christ during the Kingdom Age will be all of whom were born again prior to the Tribulation, and those whom were born again, AND MARTYRED, during the tribulation.

1. Old Testament Saints (Dan 12:1-2; Matt 19:28).
2. New Testament Saints (1 Cor 6:2).
3. Tribulation Martyred Saints (Rev 20:4).

F. Those “not” ruling and reigning with Christ during the Kingdom Age.

1. Those whom were born again during the Tribulation, but were not martyred (this will be discussed in the next Revelation article).
2. All children who will be born during the Kingdom Age have yet to be born again; if they accept Christ as Savior, they will be born again and have the influence of God’s Holy Spirit prompting them to righteousness (John 14:26, 16:7-11).

G. Who will rule and reign over whom?

1. In the Abrahamic Covenant, Jews are promised the land of Gen 15:18-22, which will not occur until the Kingdom Age. Surviving Jews of the Tribulation will occupy the promised land. Jews with resurrection bodies will rule and reign over the land of Gen 15:18-22.

2. Surviving Tribulation Gentiles will enter the Kingdom Age, but will reside beyond the boundaries of the promised land. They will come and go, to and from, the promised land of Gen 15:18-22 (Zech 14:16-19). Born again saints of the Church Age, and the martyred and resurrected Gentiles of the Tribulation, will rule and reign in the area beyond the promised land of Gen 15:18-22. The church age saints may also rule and reign over the promised land (1 Thes 4:17).

3. Resurrected and raptured saints of the church age will be caught up and taken to Heaven by Christ, never to be absent from His Presence (John 14:2,3,6; 1 Thes 4:16-17). We, “church age saints,” will travel from heaven to earth with Christ during the Millennium, and back to Heaven with Christ, as we rule and reign with Him….back and forth….back and forth….back and forth. We will go back and forth, from heaven to earth to heaven, for the 1000 year duration of the Kingdom Age.

H. Looking ahead. We have discussed the stipulation for those whom will gain entry into the Millennium. There is also a stipulation for those whom will gain entry into the eternal state of Rev 21-22. In our next Revelation article we will discuss that which is necessary for anyone to spend eternity with God in the eternal state.

Satan Bound

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.

Comments 1-3 KJV Study Bible. 20:1–3. The bottomless pit is simply the Abyss (Gr. abussos), the abode of evil spirits (cf. 9:1–11; Luke 8:31). The key shows authority, and the chain depicts imprisonment and binding. Before the millennial kingdom begins, Satan (cf. 12:9) is bound in the Abyss. The seal indicates God’s authority and guarantee that Satan will not be released until a thousand years have passed. During the Millennium (Latin for “one thousand years”) Satan will not be able to tempt or deceive the nations. Any temptation to sin during the Millennium must come from within those people who are born after the kingdom begins. It must be assumed that all of Satan’s demons or fallen angels are also imprisoned at this time (cf. Is. 24:21–23). Christ will reign on earth without opposition, and His kingdom will be characterized by righteousness, peace, and love (cf. Is. 2:3, 4; 11:3–5; 35:1, 2; Dan. 7:14; Zech. 14:9). However, after the thousand years Satan will be released for a short while (vv. 7–9).

4 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.

Comments 4 the souls of those who had been beheaded. These are tribulation martyrs (cf. 6:9; 18:24; 19:2). The Gr. word translated “beheaded” became a general term for execution, not necessarily a particular method. his mark. See note on 13:16. Tribulation martyrs will be executed for refusing the mark of the beast. reigned. Tribulation believers, along with the redeemed from both the OT and NT eras, will reign with Christ (1 Cor. 6:2; 2 Tim. 2:12) during the 1,000 year kingdom.

Comments 5 the rest of the dead. The bodies of unbelievers of all ages will not be resurrected until the Great White Throne Judgment (vv. 12, 13). first resurrection. Scripture teaches two kinds of resurrections: the “resurrection of life” and “the resurrection of condemnation” (John 5:29; cf. Dan. 12:2; Acts 24:15). The first kind of resurrection is described as “the resurrection of the just” (Luke 14:14), the resurrection of “those who are Christ’s at His coming” (1 Cor. 15:23), and the “better resurrection” (Heb. 11:35). It includes only the redeemed of the church age (1 Thess. 4:13–18), the OT (Dan. 12:2), and the Tribulation (v. 4). They will enter the kingdom in resurrection bodies, along with believers who survived the Tribulation. The second kind of resurrection, then, will be the resurrection of the unconverted who will receive their final bodies suited for torment in hell.

Comments 6. Blessed. Those who die in the Lord (14:13) are blessed with the privilege of entering His kingdom (see note on 1:3). second death. The first death is only physical, the second is spiritual and eternal in the lake of fire, the final, eternal hell (v. 14). It could exist outside the created universe as we know it, outside of space and time, and be presently unoccupied (see note on 19:20). thousand years. See note on v. 2.

Satan Freed, Doomed

7 When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, 8 and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. 9 And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Comments 7 Satan…released. He is loosed to bring cohesive leadership to the world of rebels born to the believers who entered the kingdom at the beginning. He is loosed to reveal the character of Christ-rejecting sinners who are brought into judgment for the last time ever.

Comments 8 Gog and Magog. The name given to the army of rebels and its leader at the end of the Millennium. They were names of ancient enemies of the Lord. Magog was the grandson of Noah (Gen. 10:2) and founder of a kingdom located N of the Black and Caspian Seas. Gog is apparently the leader of a rebel army known collectively as Magog. The battle depicted in vv. 8, 9 is like the one in Ezek. 38, 39; it is best to see this one as taking place at the end of the Millennium. For the difference, see notes on Ezek. 38, 39.

Comments 9 beloved city. Jerusalem (cf. Pss. 78:68; 87:2), the capital city during Christ’s millennial reign (Jer. 3:17). The saints will be living around the city where Christ reigns (cf. Is. 24:23; Jer. 3:17; Zech. 14:9–11). fire. Frequently associated in Scripture with divine judgment of wicked men (Gen. 19:24; 2 Kin. 1:10, 12, 14; Luke 9:54; 17:29).

Comments 10 deceived. Just as his demons will entice the world’s armies into the Battle of Armageddon, Satan will draw them into a suicidal assault against Christ and His people (16:13, 14). lake of fire and brimstone. See note on 19:20. tormented day and night. See note on 14:11. Continuous, unrelieved torment will be the final state of Satan, fallen angels, and unredeemed men.

Judgment at the Throne of God

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Comments 11 great white throne. Nearly 50 times in Revelation there is the mention of a throne. This is a judgment throne, elevated, pure, and holy. God sits on it as judge (cf. 4:2, 3, 9; 5:1, 7, 13; 6:16; 7:10, 15) in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. See 21:5, 6; John 5:22–29; Acts 17:31. earth and the heaven fled away. John saw the contaminated universe go out of existence. Peter described this moment in 2 Pet. 3:10–13 (see notes there). The universe is “uncreated,” going into non-existence (cf. Matt. 24:35).

Comments 12 standing before God. In a judicial sense, as guilty, condemned prisoners before the bar of divine justice. There are no living sinners left in the destroyed universe since all sinners were killed and all believers glorified. books. These books record every thought, word, and deed of sinful men—all recorded by divine omniscience (see note on Dan. 7:9, 10, the verse that is the source of this text). They will provide the evidence for eternal condemnation. Cf. 18:6, 7. Book of Life. It contains the names of all the redeemed (Dan. 12:1; see notes on 3:5). judged according to their works. Their thoughts (Luke 8:17; Rom. 2:16), words (Matt. 12:37), and actions (Matt. 16:27) will be compared to God’s perfect, holy standard (Matt. 5:48; 1 Pet. 1:15, 16) and will be found wanting (Rom. 3:23). This also implies that there are degrees of punishment in hell (cf. Matt. 10:14, 15; 11:22; Mark 12:38–40; Luke 12:47, 48; Heb. 10:29).

Comment 13 Death and Hades. See note on 1:18. Both terms describe the state of death. All unrighteous dead will appear at the Great White Throne Judgment; none will escape. All the places that have held the bodies of the unrighteous dead will yield up new bodies suited for hell.

My Comment. 20:13. Luke 16:19-31. The rich man was dead, with his body in the grave; this man was dead, with his soul experiencing torment in Hades. Once a believer dies, the body is in the grave (so to speak) and the soul is in the Presence of God, in a state of comfort (as was Lazarus). At the time of the rapture and resurrection, the church age bodies of the “dead in Christ” will be raised to be physically in the Presence of Christ, forever (1 Thes 4:16-18). The righteous whom die prior to the church age, and in the tribulation, will have their deceased bodies raised at the end of the tribulation (Dan 12:2, Rev 20:4). As in the case of Lazarus, all deceased righteous saints, of all times, will have their souls (consciousness) in the Presence of God from the time of their death until the time of their bodily resurrection, at which time their “bodies, souls and spirits” (1 Thes 5:23) will be reunited. There is no such thing as soul sleep.

Comments 14 second death. See note on v. 6.

Comments 15 lake of fire. See note on 19:20. 19:20 beast was captured, and…the false prophet. In an instant, the world’s armies are without their leaders. The beast is Antichrist (see notes on 13:1–8); the false prophet is his religious cohort (see notes on 13:11–17). cast alive. The bodies of the beast and the false prophet will be transformed, and they will be banished directly to the lake of fire (Dan. 7:11)—the first of countless millions of unregenerate men (20:15) and fallen angels (cf. Matt. 25:41) to arrive in that dreadful place. That these two still appear there 1,000 years later (20:10) refutes the false doctrine of annihilationism (cf. 14:11; Is. 66:24; Matt. 25:41; Mark 9:48; Luke 3:17; 2 Thess. 1:9). lake of fire. The final hell, the place of eternal punishment for all unrepentant rebels, angelic or human (cf. 20:10, 15). The NT says much of eternal punishment (cf. 14:10, 11; Matt. 13:40–42; 25:41; Mark 9:43–48; Luke 3:17; 12:47, 48). fire…brimstone. See note on 9:17. These two are frequently associated with divine judgment (14:10; 20:10; 21:8; Gen. 19:24; Ps. 11:6; Is. 30:33; Ezek. 38:22; Luke 17:29).

VI. Summary (All verses NASB).

A. The Kingdom of God is that, such as Isaiah prophesied, of a physical Kingdom which will be present on earth, with Christ ruling from Jerusalem (Isa 2:3, 9:6-7, etc.).

B. There is discussion today of “Kingdom Now Theology.” However, there can be no Kingdom without a King present and ruling. The King, Christ, is not presently ruling on earth, and will not be present on earth until the events of prophecy are fulfilled, such as those taken from Zech 12:9 and 14:1-4, at the end of the Tribulation, in the Battle of Armageddon:

1. “And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem” (Zech 12:9).

2. “Behold, a day is coming for the Lord…. (He) will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle…Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle….His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east;” (Zech 14:1-4).

C. Peace will not come upon the Earth until Christ returns from Heaven to Earth, and physically rules and reigns from Jerusalem.

1. “And the Lord will be king over all the earth; in that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one.” (Zech 14:9)

2. There will be only one religion in the entire world during the millennial reign of Christ. Ruling with a rod of iron (cf. Rev. 19:15), Christ will have done away with all false religions spawned by Satan. This will be the ultimate fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant providing a Jewish people, the nation of Israel, and the land given to Abraham; the Davidic Covenant which promised a king from the tribe of Judah and the line of David; and the New Covenant which held out the hope of spiritual redemption for Jew and Gentile. All of this will be fulfilled in and by the Lord Jesus Christ. (MacArthur Study Bible note).

D. If we were to think that we are in the Kingdom Age now, we would have to conclude that Christ is not doing a good job of ruling and reigning. Worldly peace is not present. The conditions of Isaiah 2 are nowhere to be found.

Rev 19 – Christ Returns – The Tribulation Ends – Judgment Follows

I. Opening Video Information. End Times Signs – Jesus is Coming. May 7, 2016. OTG Ministry.

II. Introduction. It is at the end of the Great Tribulation that Israel is being attacked by all of the nations of the world at the Battle of Armageddon; the USA is one of those worldly attackers. The Jews see no way out of their impending destruction. Israel, and Jews everywhere, have denied Christ for centuries, but now they call on Him to save them, which our Lord does. Christ descends from heaven with angels, and with the born again believers in Christ whom were resurrected or raptured prior to the beginning of the tribulation, and then taken to Heaven where they have been waiting for this prophetic event for the salvation of God’s chosen people (Deu 14:2). This article will discuss the second coming of Christ, where He will stand on planet earth. We will also take a close look at those whom will come with Christ to save the Jews, whom will include resurrected and raptured Messianic Jews.

III. Preview of Rev 19.

A. The events of Rev 19 are identified in verse order, as follow: The Marriage of the Lamb (7-8); The Marriage Supper of the Lamb (9); The descent of Christ from Heaven with the raptured and resurrected believers of the church age and the angels, for the Battle of Armageddon (Rev 11-16…Zech 14:5, Matt 24:29-31; Rev 17-21…Isa 66:15-17, Mark 13:24-28, Luke 21:25-27, Zech 12:2-3, Zech 14:1-6,12-17…Zech 12:16-17 is a glimpse of the following Kingdom Age, which is also known as the thousand year millennial reign of Christ). (The Ryrie Study Bible discusses the referenced verses).

B. With some repetition, at the second coming of Christ from heaven to stand on planet earth, the Tribulation comes to a close. In Rev 19 Christ returns to Earth to judge sin and to set up the prophesied Kingdom Age, also known as His thousand year millennial reign. Accompanying Christ, will be the living born again believers in Christ whom were caught up to heaven in the rapture of the church prior to the tribulation (John 14:2,3,6; 1 Cor 15:50-54; 1 Thes 4:13-18). Also, with the returning Christ, will be the born again believers which died during the church age (prior to the tribulation), and were resurrected from death immediately prior to the living believers being raptured. At the time of the rapture, Christ will come in the air but will not stand on planet Earth. Those saints returning to earth with Christ will rule and reign with Him over those which will have survived the tribulation and whom will be present on earth during the Kingdom/Millennium; the Kingdom will immediately follow the Tribulation. In future articles we will discuss more about the survivors of the Tribulation. We will also discuss the Old Covenant saints and the martyred tribulation saints, as to their ruling and reigning with Christ in the Kingdom Age. Be sure to read the closing summary of this article.

IV. Rev 19 NASB Text and KJV Study Bible Comments (unless otherwise noted).

A. Rev 19:1-5. Text.

1 After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,“Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; 2 because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.” 3 And a second time they said, “Hallelujah! Her smoke rises up forever and ever.” 4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” 5 And a voice came from the throne, saying, “Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.”

B. Rev 19:1-5. Comments.

19:1 “After these things.” MacArthur Study Bible. This is a time key. After the destruction of Babylon at the end of the Great Tribulation, just before the kingdom is established (chap. 20). This section bridges the Tribulation and the millennial kingdom.

19:1. XR Zech 14:5, “all the saints with you.” The Moody Bible Commentary. This term could refer to angels or perhaps to previously raptured believers, returning with their Lord to defend Israel.

19:1–5. Chapters 19 and 20 bring the climax of the Book of Revelation: the return of Christ to establish His millennial kingdom. But first, these five verses show heaven’s response to the judgment of the harlot. The multitude in heaven praises God for judging the great whore (Babylon, the harlot) and avenging the blood of the martyrs (cf. 7:9–17). The word alleluia is the Greek equivalent of hallelujah, and means “Praise Yahweh” or “Praise the Lord” (cf. Pss. 106; 111–113; 117; 135; 146—150). The eternal smoke symbolizes the permanence of Babylon’s destruction (cf. Is. 34:8–10). Amen derives from a Hebrew word meaning “to be firm,” and may be translated “truly” or “so be it.”

C. Rev 19:6-10. Text.

6 Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” 8 It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. 9 Then he *said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he *said to me, “These are true words of God.” 10 Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he *said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

D. Rev 19:6-10. Comments.

19:6–8. Omnipotent: God is all-powerful, and reigneth over His universe. The marriage of the Lamb: The wife or bride of Christ is the church (cf. Matt. 22:2–14; John 3:29; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 5:25–32), and the marriage is the eternal union of the church with Christ following the Rapture (cf. 1 Thess. 4:17). The fine linen, clean and white, represents the righteousness of the church. The marriage supper of the Lamb represents the millennial kingdom of Christ, which will take place on earth following the return of Christ (20:4; cf. Matt. 25:1–13; Luke 14:15–24). The Jewish marriage consisted of three major elements: (1) the betrothal; (2) the presentation; and (3) the marriage feast (supper). Figuratively, with reference to the church, (1) the betrothal takes place on earth during the church age; (2) the presentation will take place in heaven following the Rapture (cf. v. 7); and (3) the marriage feast will take place on earth following Christ’s return with the church (cf. vv. 11–14).

19:9. MacArthur Study Bible. 19:9 Blessed. See note on 1:3. those who are called. This is not the bride (the church) but the guests. The bride doesn’t get invited, she invites. These are those saved before Pentecost, all the faithful believers saved by grace through faith up to the birth of the church (Acts 2:1ff.). Though they are not the bride, they still are glorified and reign with Christ in the millennial kingdom. It is really differing imagery rather than differing reality. The guests also will include tribulation saints and believers alive in earthly bodies in the kingdom. The church is the bride, pure and faithful—never a harlot, like Israel was (see Hos. 2). So the church is the bride during the presentation feast in heaven, then comes to earth for the celebration of the final meal (the Millennium). After that event, the new order comes and the marriage is consummated (see notes on 21:1, 2). true sayings of God. This refers to everything since 17:1. It is all true—the marriage will take place after judgment.

19:10. KJV Study Bible. Worship: Only God is to be worshiped (cf. 22:8, 9; Acts 10:25, 26). Spirit of prophecy: The person and message of Jesus is the essence of all true prophecy.

E. Rev 19:11-13. Text.

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. 13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

F. Rev 19:11-13. Comments.

19:11–13. This white horse is not that of 6:2. Here the True Messiah returns in victorious conquest. He is Faithful to His Word and promises. He will fulfill the twofold role of judge and warrior. His judgment of the earth will be totally righteous (cf. 16:5–7; 19:2; Ps. 96:13). The fire depicts glory and judgment. The crowns indicate total sovereignty and authority (contrast 12:3; 13:1). The secret name expresses the mystery and greatness of the person of Christ (cf. 2:17; 3:12; 19:13, 16; Phil. 2:9–11). The blood represents the judgment of Christ’s enemies (cf. 14:14–20; Is. 63:1–6). The name Word of God presents Christ as the revelation of God Himself (cf. John 1:1, 14; 1 John 1:1). In His first advent, Jesus especially revealed the love and grace of God (cf. John 1:17; Rom. 5:8). But in His second advent, He will reveal the holiness, justice, and judgment of God (cf. Heb. 4:12).

G. Rev 19:14-16. Text.

14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. 15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

H. Rev 19:14-16. Comments.

19:14. John F. Walvoord Revelation Commentary. Accompanying Christ on His second coming are those described as “the armies which were in heaven.” Some, such as J. B. Smith, have limited this army to the church, the Bride of Christ, on the basis that it is described as clothed in fine linen, white and clean.301 There is, however, no reason to limit this to the church, though the church is arrayed in fine linen. The church is not alone in having righteousness in the form of righteous deeds, and it is more probable that here not only the saints but also the holy angels are meant.

19:15–16. The sword from His mouth depicts judgment through His spoken Word (cf. 1:16; 2:12, 16; Is. 11:4; 2 Thess. 2:8). Smite the nations: Christ will destroy all unbelievers (cf. 19:21; Matt. 25:41, 46; 2 Thess. 1:8, 9). Rod of iron: Christ will subject all nations to Himself, and destroy all His enemies (cf. Ps. 2:8, 9; 1 Cor. 15:24, 25). Winepress: See 14:17–20. Words relating to wrath and anger are found 15 times in Revelation. KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS: Christ has universal sovereignty. He is King over all who call themselves kings, and Lord over all who call themselves lords (cf. 17:14; Deut. 10:17; Dan. 2:47; 1 Tim. 6:15).

I. Rev 19:17-18. Text.

17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, “Come, assemble for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great.” 19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20 And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. 21 And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

J. Rev 19:17-18. Comments.

19:17, 18. The supper of the great God is different from the marriage supper of the Lamb (v. 9). Here, God calls the fowls or birds of the sky to gather to eat the flesh of those who have died in the Battle of Armageddon (cf. 16:14, 16; 19:21; Ezek. 39:17–20). All men indicates “all kinds of men”; not everyone at Armageddon will be an unbeliever (cf. Matt. 25:31–46).

K. Rev 19:19-21. Text.

19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20 And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. 21 And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

L. Rev 19:19-21. Comments.

19:19–21. The armies of the beast and of the kings of the East (and of all the earth) will gather in Palestine at Armageddon (cf. 16:12–16). Christ will immediately defeat and capture the Beast and the false prophet (cf. ch. 13). These will become the first inhabitants of the lake of fire (cf. 20:10). The rest of the kings and armies will be killed by the Word of Christ, and will be eaten by the birds (vv. 17, 18). The unbelieving survivors of the Tribulation will be judged by Christ and also sentenced to everlasting fire (cf. Matt. 25:41, 46).

V. Summary.

A. It is in this 19th chapter of Revelation that “the church,” will be identified, “as such,” for the last time in the Bible. Consider the things that must happen preceding the events of this chapter, in regard to born again believers in Christ.

John 14:2,3,6. Christ told His disciples that he will go to prepare a place for them in Heaven, and that He will return for them and take them back to Heaven with Him. Vs 6 tells of the catching up of the saints of the church age, dead and alive. Judas died before the church age began. Relating scriptures are 1 Cor 15:50-54, where those whom are resurrected or caught up will be given bodies and souls that are perfect and eternal. 1 Thes 4:13-18 explains that deceased believers will be resurrected prior to living believers being caught up/raptured.

1 Cor 6:2. Raptured and resurrected believers will rule and reign with Christ during the Kingdom/Millennium when they return to earth with Christ.

2 Cor 5:10. The Judgment Seat Of Christ. HCSB. “For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless. (We will discuss this event below.)

Rev 19:7-8. The Marriage of The Lamb to the Bride of Christ occurs after the rapture and resurrection have taken place. The Marriage takes place prior to the Bride being taken to Heaven by Christ, where her dwelling place has been prepared by Him (John 14:2-3). No bride would be taken to her dwelling place by her groom, where the groom would then read his list of grievances about his bride to her.

Rev 19:11. The Bride of Christ, and angels, will now descend from Heaven to earth for the Battle of Armageddon. There is no promise to Old Covenant believers about their being involved in the rapture, the marriage of the Lamb, or the return from Heaven to earth for the Battle of Armageddon at the end of the tribulation. We will discuss the things that are promised to the Old Testament saints in following articles. The Bride of Christ (church age believers) will be present in Heaven while the things of the Tribulation are taking place on Earth. Only born again believers have a place in Heaven (John 3:3). The tribulation relates to unbelieving Jews (Jer 30:7), and to unbelieving Gentiles (1 Thes 4:16-17). There is no reason for a born again believer in Christ to come under the judgments of God, none of which will make a believer “more holy or more born again.” The purpose of the tribulation is to draw unbelieving Jews to faith in Christ (Matt 23:38-39; Zech 12:10).

B. Consider the Church, the Bride of Christ, in relation to the Judgment Seat Of Christ.

2 Cor 5:10. Those whom have been resurrected or caught up will be judged for eternal rewards (The HCSB has a good translation for this Judgment Seat of Christ event). It is important to know that only “the Bride of Christ” will be judged for rewards at this event, and should be respected for having such a distinction. The Bride will be perfect in body, soul and spirit, and will be on her way to the marriage of the Lamb.

2 Cor 5:17 HCSB. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.” The old thing that has passed away is our sinful spirit. After we have been born again, we have a new and perfect spirit.

2 Cor 5:21 HCSB. “He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Once we have been born again, our spirit is as righteous as the Spirit of Christ.

Col 1:27 HCSB. “God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” After we have been born again, the Spirit of Christ dwells within our spirit; this is our “only hope” of eternal life.

1 John 1:5 HCSB. “Now this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in Him.” If our spirit would not be as pure as the Spirit of Christ, we would not be able to dwell within the Spirit of God.

John 14:16-17 HCSB “16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. 17 He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.” The Holy Spirit of God dwells within the spirit of every born again believer in Christ.

John 14:20 HCSB. “In that day you will know that I am in My Father, you are in Me, and I am in you.”
The Spirit of Christ dwells within the Spirit of God the Father; the Spirit of God the Father, dwells within the Spirit of Christ; the Spirit of Christ dwells within our spirit.

C. The Judgment Seat of Christ is not a place for unbelievers, or for determining salvation or loss of it; it is a place where believers receive spiritual rewards. Once we have been born again our spirit is as pure as the spirit of Christ, and dwells within the Spirit of God, “Father, Son and Holy Spirit,” permanently.

John 10:27-30 HCSB. “27 My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.” Once we have been born again, we can not be unborn.” Once the Holy Spirit takes up residence within our spirit, nobody can force the Holy Spirit out of our spirit….not even us.

D. Consider what some may think about the Judgment Seat of Christ. After we have been raptured, will Christ, our Groom, read His list of grievances about us, to us, “His Bride,” (1) on our way to the Marriage of the Lamb, (2) or, on our way to the dwelling place in Heaven that He made for us, (3) or, on our way from heaven to earth to the Battle of Armageddon, (4) or, will it be at the end of the tribulation when the Old Testament saints and the Tribulation saints receive their rewards (Rev 11:18)? Think about it.

E. Consider 2 Cor 5:10. Those whom have been resurrected or caught up by Christ will be judged for eternal rewards (The HCSB has a good translation for this Judgment Seat of Christ event). It is important to know that it is “the Bride of Christ,” that will be present at this event, and should be respected for having such a distinction. The Bride will be perfect in body, soul and spirit, and will be on her way to the marriage of the Lamb, and on to Heaven with Christ. The Bride will accompany Christ from Heaven to Earth to be a part of the Battle of Armageddon, and then will rule and reign with Christ. Only believers whom have been born again, and having been given a perfect body and soul, will be present at the Judgment Seat Of Christ. Concerning those who are “called to the marriage feast” on earth during the millennium, it is not the bride (the church) “that is called,” but the guests; the bride doesn’t get invited, she invites. Those called will be the survivors of the tribulation that have accepted Christ and have entered into the Kingdom Age/Millenium. The sin problem, that each and every born again believer has to confront, is referred to by the Apostle Paul as “indwelling sin;” it is the result of our soul (mind) having not been born again until when the resurrection or catching up of the saints occurs. At the time of our new birth, our spirits were made worthy to dwell within the Spirit of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. At 1 Cor 15:50-54, our souls and bodies are made worthy to go on with Christ to everything beyond that event.

50 For I assure you, my brothers, it is utterly impossible for flesh and blood to possess the kingdom of God. The transitory could never possess the everlasting. 51-53 Listen, and I will tell you a secret. Rev 18 – Babylon Destroyed

II. Subject Scripture. Rev 17:18.

Revelation Chapters 17 and 18 (NASB) have a number of references to a woman (woman, harlot, she, her). The identity of that woman is clearly stated in Rev 17:18, “The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.” Babylon is the city of Rev 17:18.

III. Babylon, A Quick Preview. The source of the following information comes from the closing video of this article.

A. Babylon, which is called Babylon, will be a literal city, and will be the headquarters of the Anti-Christ during the tribulation. Rev Chap 17 and 18 are not in chronlogical order. The events of Chap 17 will occur during the first half of the tribulation. The events of Chap 18 will occur during the last half of the tribulation, at the second coming of Christ. Babylon is not a religious system or a commercial system; it is a city that is highlighted in Rev Chap 17 and 18. Babylon will be the headquarters of a worldwide religion during the tribulation, as seen in Chap 17, and will be the headquarters of a one-world commercial system as seen in Chap 18. The seventh bowl of God’s wrath will bring about the destruction of Babylon. When Babylon is destroyed, the judgments of God are complete. It must be noted that the Judgments begin in Rev 6:1 (Seal, Trumpet, Bowl). Each judgment comes against an unbelieving world; God does not have an agenda against born again believers in Christ, whom will be taken out of the world prior to the tribulation and will be taken to heaven by Christ (John 14:2,3,6; 1 Cor 15:50-54; 1 Thes 4:13-18). It will be Israel, and not Gentiles, who will call on Christ to save them from total destruction at the end of the tribulation (Deu 14:2; Jer 30:7; Mt 24:22; Zech 12:10).

B. MacArthur Study Bible Comment. Chapters and verses 6:1—19:21 This lengthy section details the judgments and events of the time of tribulation (see notes on 3:10) from its beginning with the opening of the first seal (vv. 1, 2) through the 7 seal, trumpet, and bowl judgments to the return of Christ to destroy the ungodly (19:11–21).

C. Introduction To Scripture Text. This article will be one of the most important ones that will have come from this site. Rev 18 will show the world, minus the presence and influence of born again believers in Christ. The view of the “ten nation” Anti-Christ tribulation confederation, that was shown in the Tim LaHaye “Left Behind” series of books and videos, will be shown to be of fact (See MacArthur comment on 17:12). As you read through the verses and comments of this article, you will recognize a world that is much of which our unbelieving world would like to have as controlling factors today. Most of the United Nations member nations would like to see the Nation of Israel dissolved, destroyed and removed from the face of the earth; they would also like to negate the influence of believers in Christ. Not only has the United Nations proven to be a threat to Israel, the liberal forces of America’s Democrat Party have also shown a total lack of proper respect for “God’s Chosen People,” Israel (Deu 14:2), and an increasing militancy toward Israel. Those, of whom have a strong witness for Christ, are berated by members of the Democrat Party, fake news, academia, new world order and globalism types. After the rapture of the church takes place, the democrats will control all three houses of U.S. government, as the U.S.A. and all other nations, come under greater control of the Anti-Christ and United Nations; the truth of Matt 24:12 will be realized, “lawlessness is increased,” (NASB). I will not be writing the next end times article for about two weeks. Please take time to digest the details of this post.

IV. Revelation 18. NASB. Scripture Text (Notes come from the MacArthur Study Bible, unless otherwise noted).

A. Babylon Is Fallen

1. Verses. 1-3. 1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory. 2 And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.”

2. Comments: vs 1-3.

18:1 “earth was illuminated with his glory.” The fifth bowl (16:10) will have plunged the world into darkness. Against that backdrop, the sudden, blazing appearance of another angel (not the same as in 17:1, 7, 15) will certainly rivet the world’s attention on him and his message of judgment on Babylon (cf. 14:8).
18:2 “Babylon the great is fallen.” Cf. 14:8; see note on Is. 21:9, the verse from which these words come. The Gr. text views the results of this as if it had already taken place (see note on 14:8). But the seventh bowl is being referred to here and it is yet to come at this point (16:17–21). When it comes, devastation and annihilation will take place, leaving the place to demons.
18:3 “wine…of her fornication.” Religious Babylon (chap. 17) lures the nations into spiritual drunkenness and fornication with false gods (17:2, 4); commercial Babylon (chap. 18) seduces the unbelieving world into a materialistic stupor, so that the people of the world will become drunk with passion because of their relationship with Babylon. “kings…merchants.” Political rulers and corporate leaders alike are swept up in this worldwide system of commerce (14:8; 17:2).

3. Verses 4-8. 4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues; 5 for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Pay her back even as she has paid, and give back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. 7 To the degree that she glorified herself and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’ 8 For this reason in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong.

4. Comments: vs 4-8.

18:4 “Come out of her, my people.” God will call His own to disentangle themselves from this evil system. This may also be God’s calling the elect to abandon the world system and come to faith in the Savior. In either case, the message is to abandon the system before it is destroyed (cf. 2 Cor. 6:17; 1 John 2:15). The judgment of God on that society living in sinful, arrogant self-indulgence can be avoided. Cf. Isaiah’s and Jeremiah’s message to their people to leave Babylon (Is. 48:20; Jer. 50:8; 51:6–9, 45).
18:5 “remembered.” See 16:19. God does not remember the iniquities of His people (Jer. 31:34), but does remember to protect them (Mal. 3:16—4:2). For unrepentant Babylon, there will be no such forgiveness, only judgment.
18:6, 7a “repay.” The angel calls for God to recompense wrath to Babylon in her own cup to repay her according to her deeds (see note on 17:4). This is an echo of the OT law of retaliation (Ex. 21:24) which will be implemented by God (Rom. 12:17–21).
18:6 “double.” Has the sense of “full,” or “overflowing.” The punishment will fit the crime (cf. Jer. 16:18). “cup.” The cup of wickedness from which so many have drunk (14:8; 17:2, 4, 6) will call for the cup of wrath (14:10; 16:19).
18:7b “am no widow.” A proud, but empty, boast of self-sufficiency, also made by historical Babylon (Is. 47:8). Cf. 1 Cor. 10:12.
18:8 “her plagues.” These could include those of 16:1ff., but must be the special destruction of the city as well, described as “death, mourning and famine.” “in one day.” See vv. 10, 17, 19. The special judgments on Babylon take place in a brief period of time. Daniel 5:30 records that Babylon of old fell in one day.

B. Lament for Babylon

1. Verses 9-10. 9 “And the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and lived sensuously with her, will weep and lament over her when they see the smoke of her burning, 10 standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’

2. Comments. vs 9-10.

18:9–20 This section records the lament over Babylon’s destruction, not her sin, by those who were part of her system.

18:9 “kings.” The political leaders of the world will weep because the loss of his capital city will signal the doom of Antichrist’s empire, and with it, the source of their power. Cf. v. 3; 17:2. “weep and lament for her.” “Weep” means “to sob openly.” “Lament” translates the same Gr. word used to express the despair of the unbelieving world at the return of Christ (1:7).
18:10 one hour. Cf. vv. 8, 17, 19.

3. Verses 11-20. 11 “And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more— 12 cargoes of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and bronze and iron and marble, 13 and cinnamon and spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and slaves and human lives. 14 The fruit you long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them. 15 The merchants of these things, who became rich from her, will stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16 saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls; 17 for in one hour such great wealth has been laid waste!’ And every shipmaster and every passenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, stood at a distance, 18 and were crying out as they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What city is like the great city?’ 19 And they threw dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became rich by her wealth, for in one hour she has been laid waste!’ 20 Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her.”

4. Comments. vs 11-20.

18:12, 13 Over half of their commodities appear in the list of Ezek. 27:12–22.
18:13 “bodies and souls of men.” The slave trade, long banned by the civilized nations of the world, will reappear in Antichrist’s debauched commercial system.
18:17 “shipmaster.” Ship captains will mourn the loss of Babylon and the lucrative transport business that went with it.
18:19 “threw dust on their heads.” An ancient expression of grief (cf. Josh. 7:6; 1 Sam. 4:12; 2 Sam. 1:2; 15:32; Job 2:12; Lam. 2:10; Ezek. 27:30). “in one hour.” Not just 60 minutes, but one brief period of swift judgment (see note on v. 8).
18:20 “God has avenged you on her.” The angel will exhort the tribulation martyrs (6:9–11) to rejoice, not over the deaths of those doomed to eternal hell, but, because God’s righteousness and justice will have prevailed.

5. Verses 21-24. 21 Then a strong angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down with violence, and will not be found any longer. 22 And the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman of any craft will be found in you any longer; and the sound of a mill will not be heard in you any longer; 23 and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all who have been slain on the earth.”

6. Comments. vs 21-24.

18:21 “great millstone.” Millstones were large, heavy stones used to grind grain. This metaphor portrays the violence of Babylon’s overthrow. Cf. Jer. 51:61–64; see note on Matt. 18:6.
18:22, 23 The fall of Babylon ends whatever semblance of normalcy will still exist in the world after all the seals, trumpets, and bowls. Life will be totally disrupted and the end near. No more music, no industry, no preparing of food (“millstone”), no more power for light, and no more weddings because God will destroy the deceivers and deceived.
18:24 “blood of prophets and saints.” The religious and commercial/political systems embodied in Babylon will commit unspeakable atrocities against God’s people (cf. 6:10; 11:7; 13:7, 15; 17:6; 19:2). God will avenge that slaughter of His people (19:2).

Rev 17 – A City By Its Name – “MYSTERY, BABYLON,” or “a mystery, BABYLON”

I. Opening Video Information. A Testimony. An Outspoken Jew for Jesus. Dec 3, 2007. The 700 Club. Bob Siegel was a Jew whose mind was poisoned against Jesus at an early age. Then, in college, two strangers shared a message that changed his heart.

II. Subject scripture. Rev 17:5. There are many opinions of this verse. We will discuss the factors of the verse, as well as those of the total 17th Chapter of Revelation. We will consider the worldwide ecumenical religion that is driven by the forces of the antichrist, that will be responsible for the persecution and murder of Jews and Gentiles which choose not to become a follower of this worldwide religion, and will not worship the image of the beast (Rev 13:4-17), but whom come to saving faith in Christ during the tribulation.

III. Consider “mystery.”

A. Text. Matthew 13:11 (NAS95)
11 Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.

B. Note. MacArthur Study Bible. the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. “Mysteries” are those truths which have been hidden from all ages in the past and revealed in the NT.

1. Consider “kingdom.” The following verses relate to mysteries being revealed during the time of the Gospels and following times. The Kingdom Of God had been taught to Jews by Old Testament writers. Christ began teaching on the Kingdom Age, which was a mystery to those whom were in His audience of Jews. It was the Gospel of the Kingdom that Christ directed His disciples to teach to Jews (Matt 10:1-8). It is the Gospel of the Kingdom Age that must be taught to all during the tribulation, and will precede the return of Christ to earth at the end of the tribulation (Matt 24:14). It is important to know that the Gospel of the Kingdom of God was taught to Jews prior to his ascension to Heaven (Acts 1:3-7). It is the context of Isa 2:2 (below) that tells of the Kingdom Age (the Kingdom of God). The Gospel of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, with evidence of His being seen (1 Cor 15:1-8), is the “good news” (Gospel) that the apostles and their disciples began to teach to unbelieving Jews and Gentiles, in obedience to Christ’s “great commission” (Acts 1:8, Matt 28:18-20).

2. Consider the “Kingdom Age” mystery, which is also known as the “thousand year” Millennial Reign Of Christ.

a. Isaiah 2:2. (NAS77)
2 In the last days, The mountain of the house of the Lord Will be established as the chief of the mountains,
And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it.

b. Note. MacArthur Study Bible. 2:2 in the latter days. The “latter (or last) days” is a time designation looking forward to the messianic era (Ezek. 38:16; Hos. 3:5; Mic. 4:1).

c. Other Mystery Texts. Mark 4:11; Luke 8:10; Rom 11:25, 16:25. 1 Cor 2:7, 15:51; Eph 1:9, 3:3-4, 3:9, 5:32, 6:19; Col 1:26-27, 2:2, 4:3; 2 Thes 2:7; 1 Tim 3:9, 16; Rev 1:20, 10:7, 17:5, 17:7.

d. Note. 4:11 mystery…parables. A “mystery” in the NT refers to something previously hidden and unknown but revealed in the NT

3. Consider scripture translation of Rev 17:5. “a mystery, Babylon” and “MYSTERY, BABYLON.”

4. Location Considerations.

a. The city of Babylon.
b. There are 259 OT scriptures that identify the literal place of Babylon. In the NT, the following verses clearly identify the literal location of Babylon (Matt 1:11, 12, 17; Acts 7:43; 1 Pet 5:13; Rev 18:10).

(1) 1 Peter 5:13 (NASB) “She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son, Mark.”
(2) Rev 18:10, “Babylon, the strong city!” 18:21, “Babylon, the great city.”

c. Babylon, “no great city.” Some may say that there is no such city in Iraq that represents the Revelation depiction of Babylon. The following link discusses how quickly cities can be built in the Middle East.

IV. Full Text. Revelation 17 (NASB) (Notes taken from MacArthur Study Bible).

A. The Doom of Babylon. Chapters 17, 18 focus on one aspect of those bowl judgments, the judgment of Babylon.

1. Verses 1-7.

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk with the wine of her immorality.” 3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality, 5 and on her forehead a name was written, a mystery, “BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” 6 And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered greatly. 7 And the angel said to me, “Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

2. Notes: 17:1-7.

vs 1: “great harlot.” Prostitution frequently symbolizes idolatry or religious apostasy. “sits on many waters.” This picture emphasizes the sovereign power of the harlot. The picture is of a ruler seated on a throne, ruling the waters, which symbolize the nations of the world (see v. 15)
vs 2. “committed fornication.” The harlot will ally herself with the world’s political leaders. Fornication here does not refer to sexual sin, but to idolatry. All the world rulers will be absorbed into the empire of Satan’s false christ. “wine of her fornication.” The harlot’s influence will extend beyond the world’s rulers to the rest of mankind. The imagery does not describe actual wine and sexual sin, but pictures the world’s people being swept up into the intoxication and sin of a false system of religion.
vs 3. “a woman.” The harlot of v. 1, Babylon. “scarlet beast.” The Antichrist, who for a time will support and use the false religious system to effect world unity. Then he will assume political control (cf. v. 16). “having seven heads and ten horns.” This pictures the extent of Antichrist’s political alliances.
vs 5. “forehead.” It was customary for Roman prostitutes to wear a headband with their name on it. The harlot’s forehead is emblazoned with a 3-fold title descriptive of the world’s final false religious system. “MYSTERY.” A NT mystery is truth once hidden, but in the NT revealed. Spiritual Babylon’s true identity is yet to be revealed. Thus, the precise details of how it will be manifested in the world are not yet known. “BABYLON THE GREAT.” This Babylon is distinct from the historical, geographical city of Babylon (which still existed in John’s day). “MOTHER OF HARLOTS.” All false religion stems ultimately from Babel, or Babylon (cf. Gen. 11; see note on 14:8).
vs 6. “the blood of the saints…martyrs of Jesus.” Some see the first group as OT saints, and the second as NT saints—an unimportant distinction since this pictures the martyrs of the Tribulation. John’s point is that the harlot is a murderer. False religion has killed millions of believers over the centuries, and the final false system will be far more deadly than any that preceded it.
vs 7. “mystery.” Not that Babylon is a false system of religion, because that is already known, but that the beast will fully support the harlot and together exert vast influence over the whole earth.

3. Verses 8-13.

8 “The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come. 9 Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits, 10 and they are seven kings; five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while. 11 The beast which was and is not, is himself also an eighth and is one of the seven, and he goes to destruction. 12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour. 13 These have one purpose, and they give their power and authority to the beast.

4. Notes: Verses 8-13.

vs 8. “The beast.” Both a king and kingdom are referred to by this term. was, and is not, and will ascend. A reference to the Antichrist’s false resurrection (13:3, 4, 12–14). “out of the bottomless pit.” After his “resurrection,” the Antichrist will become possessed by a great demon from the abyss. “perdition.” “Eternal destruction. “This is the lake of fire, the place of Antichrist’s destruction (19:20). “Book of Life.” Written in eternity past by God.
vs 9. “seven mountains.” The Gr. word is often used of hills. the final worldwide system of false religion includes. the 7 mountains in context likely symbolize the 7 kingdoms and their kings of v. 10.
vs 10. “seven kings.” Representatives of the 7 great world empires (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and that of the Antichrist). Cf. Daniel’s image in Dan. 2:37–45. Five have fallen, one is, and the other. When John wrote, the Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Medo-Persian and Greek empires had gone out of existence; Rome still existed; and the Antichrist’s empire had not yet come. When it does, it will be brief (12:12; 13:5) and he will end in perdition.
vs 11. “and is not…the eighth.” The Antichrist’s kingdom is said to be both the seventh and eighth kingdoms because of his supposed demise and resurrection. He is the seventh king before and the eighth king after his “resurrection” when he destroys the harlot’s religious empire and demands exclusive worship of himself (v. 16).
vs 12. “ten kings.” (cf. Dan. 2:41, 42). These kings are sub-rulers under the Antichrist, whose empire will apparently be divided into 10 administrative districts. “no kingdom as yet.” Thus, the kings cannot be identified with any historical figures. “one hour.” Symbolic of the brief 3½ year period of time (cf. 11:2, 3; 12:6, 12, 14; 13:5; 18:10, 17, 19).

B. Victory for the Lamb.

14 These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.” 15 And he *said to me, “The waters which you saw where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire. 17 For God has put it in their hearts to execute His purpose by having a common purpose, and by giving their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God will be fulfilled. 18 The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.”

2. Notes. Verses 14-18.

vs 14. “make war.” A reference to the battle of Armageddon (16:14–16), where the Lamb will utterly destroy the kings (19:17–21). “Lord of lords and King of kings.” A title for God (19:16) that emphasizes His sovereignty over all other rulers to whom He has delegated authority.
vs 16. “these will hate the harlot.” After using the false religious system to unify the world kingdoms and gain control of all, the Antichrist—with the help of his 10 sub-rulers—will turn against the system, plunder and destroy it, and seize all power and worship for himself. They will be carrying out God’s will (v. 17). Cf. Gen. 50:20.
vs 18. “great city.” Here is another identification of the capital city of Babylon, centerpiece of Antichrist’s empire.

V. Conclusions.

A. Conclusion 1. “Babylon means Babylon.” The NIV (2011 Translation), NASB, CSB, and NET are correct in their translation of Rev 17:5, “a mystery, Babylon.” The closing video, that is provided by Dr. Andy Woods, provides a clarifying discussion of this subject. B. Conclusion 2. The MacArthur note on verse 7 provides the answer to the question about the mystery of the text: “mystery.” Not that Babylon is a false system of religion, because that is already known, but that the beast will fully support the harlot and together exert vast influence over the whole earth.

What? Who’s There?

REVELATION 4,333,246 views This article is a continuation of one that I posted that used the same video. That post title is “You Must Be Born Again,” and is dated October 13, 2018. The opening video shows different events that will take place during the time of the seven-year tribulation, which is “future” to us.

Consider the “What” of this article.

The Tribulation

Matthew 24:21 New King James Version (NKJV)

21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Consider the words of the above verse. The devastation of the worldwide flood of Noah’s time can not even be compared to the severity of God’s wrath that will be unleashed on the entire world during the time of the tribulation.

Revelation 16 gives a good description of the horrible things that will happen to the earth, and to those people whom are left on earth following the catching up of his believers (John 14:1-6, 1 Thessalonians 14:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:54-58). In Revelation 16:16, you will see the word, “Armageddon,” which relates to a campaign of battles between the forces of God and the forces of Satan, and will culminate with the return of Christ to earth to judge sin and set up His earthly 1,000 kingdom at the end of the tribulation. We will discuss more about the people which will have to endure the wrath of God. Watch the video carefully. You will see events that match the times of tribulation which will encompass a seven-year period of time after the catching up of the saints of God occurs; the last half of the tribulation is known as the great tribulation.

Consider the judgments of God that will occur during the tribulation.

Seal Judgments. Revelation 6:1-8:6. (1. Antichrist. 2. War. 3. Famine. 4. Widespread death on Earth. 5. The cry of the martyrs. 6. Great Earthquakes.)

Trumpet Judgments. Revelation 8:7-9:21. (1. A third of vegetation burned. 2. A third of the seas struck. 3. A third of fresh waters struck. 4. A third of the luminaries darkened. 5. Increased demonic activity. 6. A third of mankind killed.)

Bowl Judgments. Revelation 15:1-16:21. (1. Malignant sores. 2. Seas turned to blood. 3. Fresh waters to blood. 4. Population scorched with fire. 5. Darkness over the kingdom of the Anti-Christ. 6. Invasion from the east. 7. Greatest earthquake and widespread destruction.)

Notice that the severity of the judgments will increasingly become greater. Let’s consider the Bowl Judgments of Revelation 16, which will occur during the second half of the seven-year tribulation.

First Bowl: Loathsome Sores

Second Bowl: The Sea Turns to Blood

Fourth Bowl: Men And Women Are Scorched By The Sun’s Fiery Heat/Polar Ice Caps Melt/Great Floods

Fifth Bowl: Darkness and Pain

Sixth Bowl: Euphrates Dried Up

16:16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (This gathering is in preparation for the great spiritual battle of Revelation 19:11-21 when Christ returns to earth with His caught up saints. The battle is won by a spiritual sword that comes out of the mouth of Christ.)

Seventh Bowl: The Earth Utterly Shaken/Thunderings/Lightnings/Great Earthquake/. Islands/Mountains not to be found. Great Hail/Great Plague/Those Left Behind Blaspheme God.

Consider the “Who” of the article. “Who’s There?” In other words, who are the people that will be present on Earth during the tribulation?

The purpose of the total tribulation is for God to judge sin and to draw unsaved Jews to saving faith in Christ. Unsaved gentiles whom will be left behind on earth when the catching up of the born again believers in Christ occurs, will also be able to come to saving faith in Christ. However, it is important to know that the time of tribulation, with its judgments and wrath of God, is not designed with the purpose of born again believers in Christ being the targets of God. In many videos of the tribulation, small children are shown. Please let me make this statement: “small children will not be left behind from the catching up of the saints.” God does not have a problem with small children, or with born again believers in Christ. The focus of the tribulation is on those whom have not been born again. (Matt 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” NASB). Israel, that is unbelieving Israel, is stated as being the reason for the tribulation. See Jeremiah 30:7, Daniel 9:20 and Daniel 9:24-27.

Let’s look at some verses of scripture that specifically relate to the people whom will, or “will not,” be left behind to endure the judgments of God and the persecution of the anti-christ.

You must be born again (to be present with God).

John 3:3 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

God’s Holy Spirit causes the new birth to take place.

John 3:8 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

To be born again is also to believe in Christ.

John 3:16-18 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The Spirit of God dwells within the spirit of every born again believer in Christ.

John 14:20 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 20 In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

God, the Holy Spirit, will testify to His believers of the things of God.

John 15:26-27 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 26 “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, 27 and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

The indwelling Presence of God’s Holy Spirit will convict His believers of sin, and righteousness and judgment. Because Christ is not physically in our world, His Spirit (Whom dwells within the spirits of all of His born again believers) will teach those believers the same things that Christ taught His disciples, and more. The reason is that born again believers in Christ will tell the world about the righteousness of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

John 16:7-11 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

At the moment that anyone has been born again, their spirit becomes as perfect as the Spirit of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:21 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Salvation comes through accepting Christ as Lord, which comes through the Word of God.

Romans 10:13-15 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

Consider the tools that are used by Satan to get in the way of unbelievers coming to saving faith in Christ. This information is of extreme importance to parents of children, both young and not so young. God’s Word to parents is very clear. There can be no lack of understanding of the role that parents are told by God’s Word to play in the Godly training of their children.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 English Standard Version (ESV) 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Parents have the responsibility of teaching their children the Word of God, and also of shielding their children from anything that is not of God. (Whatever is not of faith is sin, Romans 14:23). Christian parents are responsible for ensuring that their children are placed in an environment where they are encouraged to call on the Name of the Lord,” (Romans 10:13-15). However, there is competition for the minds of our children that comes from the following satanic detractors: liberal academia, entertainment, news and opinion, new world order corporations, and the democrat party. Any family that puts their children in the environment of these above detractors is playing Russian Roulette with the eternities of their children. Nothing of God comes from those groups. Support for abortion on demand, homosexuality, violence, and opposition to Israel are being fed to the American public on almost a twenty-four hour a day basis. If such a diet of sin is constantly placed before a family, that family will not come to saving faith in Christ. Consider the follow breakdown of entities that are opposed to God’s Holy Word. The truth of such ungodliness can easily be seen in news reports, even from the agencies of fake news.

A. From that which we see on news reports, a large majority of universities bombard their students with the pressure of accepting their ungodly beliefs of: abortion on demand; homosexuality and same-sex marriage; mob violence; a total disrespect of the nation of Israel, and the love that God has for “His chosen people,” (Deuteronomy 7:6).

B. The entertainment industry continues to produce movies and other so-called forms of art, in such a way that few entertainers feel free to express their view that the killing of unborn babies is murder; that homosexuality and same-sex marriage are not only to be accepted but – – – to be embraced, with the consequence of jail. Much of the entertainment industry holds to the view that the support of Israel is inconsistent with being an open-minded member of the actor’s guild; few actors or actresses openly stand up to the forces of “Hollywood.”

C. That media which has earned the reputation of being “fake news,” has a constant barrage of attacks on anyone whom believes that unborn babies have a Godly and constitutional right to be born; that if any segment of society opposes, or speaks out against, homosexuality and same-sex marriage, that those “narrow-minded bigots,” should be shunned and openly attacked for their narrow-mindedness; that so-called Palestinians have a legal right to the ownership of the land that God promised to Israel, His chosen people (Deuteronomy 7:6).

D. New World Order Corporations. Such businesses work hand-in-hand to hold back those employees whom deny support for abortion on demand, and other aspects of homosexuality. These corporations also show opposition to Israel, and the placing of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, which is the actual capital of Israel, and has been the capital since 1451 B.C.

E. In order to put teeth into forcing abortion on demand, homosexuality and same-sex marriage, and a total lack of Israel’s right to its God-given home land, a political party is needed to enact laws that will not only make people accept the things that I have been discussing, but to also embrace such things that God opposes. In essence, “accept and embrace homosexuality, pay a large fine, or go to jail!” This is not a fairy tale; it has actually happened. The baker in Colorado that did not want to design a homosexual wedding cake was destroyed by the media. He would have sold a cake to the homosexual couple, but that was not good enough; they wanted to get into his mind and force him to create a cake of abominable purposes.

Such above ungodly opposition to the election of Republican candidates is because the Democrat party supports the ungodly positions of supporting abortion on demand, same-sex marriage and opposition to Israel. The Democrat party has also encouraged violent acts against Republicans. If a Christian family votes for only one Democrat, that vote lends support to the ungodliness of the Democrat party.

A family, that subjects its family members to a constant diet of the liberal and ungodly agendas of the above mentioned liberal entities, is making the way easier for that family to find itself left behind from the catching up of the saints, to endure the judgments of God and the persecution of the anti-christ, and to find its eternity in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10-15). The reason for this statement is that such families are putting ungodly obstacles between them and the Holiness of the Word of God that draws unbelievers to saving faith in Christ.

Parents! This is serious business. As many would say,”they’re only your family!” Some may object to the truth of this article but, the truth is the truth (John 8:32).

LET’S GET SERIOUS

No one voting for any democrat candidate can deny the position of that party on killing unborn babies, and using legislation to force acceptance of homosexuality and same-sex marriage. Abortion on demand is murder! Homosexuality is an abomination; it is an act that is repulsive to God; it can be best described as something that makes God want to “throw up!” A single sin does not cast a person’s eternal destiny in stone. But, a lifestyle of murder and homosexuality shows that such a person has not been born again, having the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within their spirit, prompting them to righteous living. Such people will spend their eternity in Hell.

A STERN WARNING

If you are a doctor, or are part of a medical staff; if you are a government official, (elected, appointed or party staff or supporter); if you are a voter; if you find yourself in any of these or other situations, and you have a lifestyle of support for killing unborn babies, you have not been born again, having the Spirit of Christ dwelling within your spirit prompting you to righteous living. Regardless of the 1973 Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision that made abortion on demand, “law,” based on “privacy,”; regardless of the continued statements of democrats about “precedent and settled law,” abortion on demand is the killing and dismemberment of an innocent baby that has life within that child (Law of Biogenesis, “life comes from life,” Dr. Louis Pasteur). If you are a government official (elected, appointed or party staff or supporter); if you are a voter, or anyone else who supports legislation that supports same-sex marriage, you have not been born again, and have a destiny of hell awaiting you, and very probably “your children too!” (1 Cor 6:9-10; Rev 21:8). But, that destiny can be changed if you accept the Spiritual call on your life to accept Christ as you Lord and Savior, and are born again and change your lifestyle of conflict with God’s Holy Word, your destiny can be changed to where you will join the “elect” of God, and not have to endure the tribulation or the lake of fire (Rev 20:10-15), per the following verse.

1 Corinthians 6:11 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

CONCLUSION

The purpose of this article is not one that is political, but relates to eternal presence. The purpose that can be best described is one of drawing people to Christ; those that have not been born again and are heading straight to hell. I do not want anybody to spend an eternity in the lake of fire; I want those whom have not been born again, to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, to be born again, to change their lifestyle of support for abortion on demand and same-sex marriage, and to join the great numbers of people whom are of God’s elect in the “new heaven, new earth, new Jerusalem (Rev 21:1-2).

The Spirit of God is endlessly calling people to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior (John 1:9). I join in that call to draw people, whom are unbelievers in Christ, to come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.

Politically speaking, I am neither democrat nor republican. My opposition to the ungodly nature of the democrat party would be the same for the republican party, if the republican party were to have the same emphasis as democrats on abortion on demand, same-sex marriage, and opposition to Israel.
