The Rapture

John Ankerberg Show Published on Feb 27, 2014. In this program, Dr. John Ankerberg and his guests, Dr. Renald Showers and Dr. Jimmy DeYoung, discuss the differences between the times when the Rapture and Second Coming of Christ will occur.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ (NASB)

Revelation 1:1

1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicate by His angel to His bond-servant John,

My note: Notice that this is “the Revelation,” singular, and not “revelations,” plural.

Revelation 1:3

3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it for the time is near.

My note: Notice the encouragement that is given in this verse. Blessings come from reading, hearing, and heeding the things that written in the Book of Revelation. The participants in the video are identified at the bottom of this page, along with their biographical information.

The catching up of the church (rapture, harpazo, rapio)

Christ, through the rapture, will suddenly take away the saints of God away from earth, so that they will not have to endure the “soon to follow” judgments of God on a sinful world in a seven-year period of time that is known as the tribulation.

(Rapture: English; Harpazo: Greek; Rapio: Latin). The rapture can be explained as being, “the catching up,” or “the snatching away.” The “catching up” of God’s people has been used by God in the past for His purposes, both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. It will happen again in the future.

Rapture verses.

Christ, God the Son, comes in the air (not to stand on earth) and catches born again believers away to the third heaven, to the Presence of God, the Father.

John 14:1-6 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

1 Corinthians 15:50-54 New King James Version (NKJV)

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 New King James Version (NKJV)

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The Second Coming Of Christ

Christ returns to earth, and stands on the earth, for the purpose of judging sin and for establishing his earthly kingdom, which is also known as the millennium and the thousand-year reign of Christ.

We will address the second coming of Christ in the next article that I publish.

Author: Eternity

The Church is the Church, and Israel is Israel. The Church did not replace Israel, and is not spiritual Israel. In the New Testament, “church” and “Israel” are mentioned as being separate entities. In the New Testament “church” is mentioned 112 times; Israel is mentioned 79 times; both are mentioned as being separate entities The Kingdom “has not yet come,” and will not come until the Jewish bloodline of Israel accepts God’s chosen king (Deuteronomy 17:15), which will take place at the end of the Tribulation when the nation of Israel faces decimation and calls on Messiah, Christ, in faith, to save them (Zechariah 12:10). Individual salvation is of the Jews (John 4:22), and comes through Christ (John 14:6). Things are discussed in this website that relate to God’s creation, from “eternity to eternity,” and all that is addressed within those parameters. Consider Isaiah 43:13, “Even from eternity I am He, And there is no one who can rescue from My hand; I act, and who can reverse it?” The Moody Study Bible adds a comment: “God is the ruler of all, and there is nothing that can stand against Him. His will is irresistible. The Bible Knowledge Commentary adds this thought: “No one can reverse what God puts into action or thwart His plans.” The articles that are found in this site may relate to anything that is found in the Bible, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21. I would like to add a word of caution concerning blog writing and personal security. Many of my followers reside in foreign lands, of which many are hostile to the Word of God. Therefore, I will not provide my name, place of residence, or anything else that could lead a person to know anything about me. I recommend that all writers adopt the same method of personal security.
